Mayo County Council is preparing a Transport Study for the town of Crossmolina. The Transport Study will address the mobility needs of people and businesses in and around Crossmolina, making it a more vibrant, accessible, healthier and sustainable town for everyone. The Study will build on existing plans and planning practices and will take due consideration of integration, participation, and evaluation principles. The Study will propose measures relating to how people move around the Town, the measures will relate to street design, public transport and safer walking and cycling infrastructure.
The Objectives of the Transport Study
A main objective of the Crossmolina Transport Study is to meet the mobility needs of people and businesses in and around Crossmolina Town. The Study will introduce measures relating to how people move around the town will include street design, public transport and safer walking and cycling infrastructure.
Implementing the measures identified in the Study creates potential to foster a vibrant Town Centre by improving public spaces and modal connectivity.
The development of a Transport Study for Crossmolina creates a gateway for funding allowing implementation of the identified measures.

An in-person public event on the proposed Transport Study will be held on Wednesday, 17th June 2026 from 4pm to 7pm in the Crossmolina Civic Centre, Mullenmore Street, Crossmolina,F26 AOC7
