Pursuant to the requirements of Section 179 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended) and Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations, 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Mayo County Council proposes to carry out a development, particulars of which are set out in the Schedule hereunder.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for viewing on the online consultation portal https://consult.mayo.ie/ and also for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy during normal opening hours from Wednesday 28th September 2022 until Wednesday 9th November 2022 at the following locations:

  • The Planning Office, Áras an Chontae, The Mall, Castlebar, Co. Mayo F23 WF90
  • The National Roads Office, Glenpark House, The Mall, Castlebar, Co. Mayo F23 XF40

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made online at https://consult.mayo.ie/ or in writing to the Senior Planner, Planning Section Áras an Chontae, The Mall, Castlebar, Co. Mayo not later than 5:00pm on Wednesday 23rd November 2022.

A public information session will be held in Breaffy House Hotel from 2:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesday 18th of October 2022.

The Townlands of: DRUMCONLAN, KNOCKRAWER, KILKENNY, DOOGARY, DRUMALEHEEN, CARROWNURLAUR, KNOCKNAGEEHY, DEMESNE, BREAGHWY, ROEMORE, LISGOWEL, CARRICK HILL, CORRATANVALLY & DRUMDOOGH, Castlebar, Co. Mayo

NATURE & EXTENT OF PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT 

Segregated footpaths and one way cycle facilities on both sides of the N60 within the 60km/h zone, shared pedestrian/cycle facilities corridor on one side of the N60 in the 80 km/h and 100km/h zones, provision of a periodic 60km/h zone at Breaffy primary school, removal of the hard shoulder at Breaffy village, provision of new jug handle crossing, 3 new cycle and pedestrian crossings, 2 new bus bays at Breaffy village and upgrade of Kilkenny Cross Roundabout to accommodate active travel provisions, total scheme length 4.2km
