PROPOSED WIDENING AND BEND REALIGNMENT

ON THE R332 KILMAINE TO FOXHALL ROAD, CO. MAYO

 

Pursuant to the requirements of Part XI of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended); and Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Mayo County Council proposes to carry out development, particulars of which are set out in the Schedule hereunder.

LOCATION

NATURE AND EXTENT OF DEVELOPMENT

Along the existing route of the R332 regional road between Kilmaine village at the most westerly point and the Mayo/Galway County Boundary at the most easterly point; within the townlands of:

CLOONCONNEELAUN, MUSICFIELD, DOORATH, TURLOUGHANBAUN, MILFORD DEMESNE, KNOCKROE, COOLEEN, CLOGHANS BEG, CLOGHANS MORE, CLOONANAFF, OULTANS and BALLYWEELA.

The proposed scheme consists approximately 3000m length (7 sections) of both online and offline carriageway construction involving vertical and horizontal realignment, road widening and road pavement overlay.

The proposed cross section typically consists of a 6m wide carriageway, a 3m wide two-way cycleway/ pedestrian shared facility with 2m wide segregation area, 0.5m min. lateral clearance for cycleway, and 3m wide verge

Plans and particulars of the proposed development are availabel to view on this consultation portal and also for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy of the documents, at the following offices of Mayo County Council:

  • Mayo County Council - Claremorris Area Office, Kilcolman Rd., Claremorris, Co. Mayo, F12 P383;
  • Mayo County Council - Ballinrobe Area Office, Kilmaine Rd., Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, F31 RR96,

from 9.00am to 5.00pm on each day during which the said Offices are open for the transaction of business, for a period ending Friday 20th January 2023.

Mayo County Council, as the competent authority, has carried out an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening Report and has determined that a Stage 2 Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of this proposed development.

Mayo County Council has carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Process and has determined that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and has determined that an EIA is not required.
