Section 179A Housing Development Achill Sound

Pursuant to the requirements of Section 179A of the Planning and Development Regulations, 2023, notice is hereby given that Mayo County Council proposes to carry out a development, particulars of which are set out in the Schedule hereunder.

Demolition of existing derelict former school buildings and the construction of 20 no. new dwellings comprising 4 No. 1 bed dwelling, 12 No. 2 bed dwellings and 4 No. 3 bed dwellings, together with all associated site development works including site boundaries, drainage, associated earthworks, utilities and services connections and all ancillary site works.

All dwellings will be provided with private gardens.

 

 

Plans and particulars of the proposed development, will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy at the following offices of Mayo County Council:

 

  • Westport Civic Offices, Altamount Street, Westport F28 W248
  • Planning Office, Aras an Chontae, The Mall, Castlebar F23 WF90

 

between the hours of 9.30am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 4.30pm each day during which said Offices are open for the transaction of business, for a period from the 11th of April to the 10th of May 2023.

Plans and particulars of the above proposed development are available for viewing online on this portal from the 11th of April to the 10th of May 2023.

 

A person may question the validity of any decision of the planning authority by way of an application for judicial review, under Order 84 of the Rules of the Superior Courts (S.I. No. 15 of 1986), in accordance with sections 50 and 50A of the Act.

 

 

Mayo County Council, as the competent authority, has carried out an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening Report and has determined that a Stage 2 Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of this proposed development.

 

Mayo County Council has carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Report and has determined that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and has determined that an EIAR is not required in respect of this proposed development.
