Consultants WSP and Transport Insights were appointed by Mayo County Council to develop the LTP. The LTP will have a specific focus on sustainable and active travel, making it easier and safer for people to walk and cycle around the town and have better access to public transport services. A Public Presentation on the Westport Local Transport Plan (LTP) was held on Tuesday, 4th April 2023 from 7- 8 pm at the Westport Town Hall Theatre, The Octagon, Cahernamart, Westport, Co. Mayo. The Public Presentation outlined work done so far and next steps to be taken in the LTP development process.

The Council is now inviting submissions/observations, so that it can ensure that issues raised at this stage, are taken into consideration on further development of the Plan.

How to make a submission

Written observations or submissions in respect of the LTP for Westport made to Mayo County Council Westport Civic Offices during the specified period will be taken into consideration in Plan development.

Submissions/Observations must be received between: Tuesday, 28th March and Tuesday, 18th April 2023.

There will be a further opportunity to make a submission/observation when the Draft LTP goes on public display. Details of which will be advertised closer to display period.

Submissions/observations to be made by one medium only and should include:

  • Full Name & Address of person making submission/observation a map (if required for identification purposes)
  • Details of organisation/community group/company which you represent where relevant.

Submissions/Observations may be made either directly here using this website or by post. Emailed submissions will not be accepted

Children or groups or associations representing the interests of children, are entitled and encouraged to make submissions or observations on the Draft LTP.

All observations or submissions received before the closing date will be taken into consideration in the development of the Westport Local Transport Plan 2023.

Observations or submissions must include the full name and address of the person(s) making the submission and where relevant, the body or organisation represented. Westport LTP Submission Guide is available on this page.

You should ensure that no vexatious, libellous or confidential information, including confidential information relating to a third party (in respect of which the third party has not, expressly, or impliedly in the circumstances, consented to its disclosure) is included in your submission. The Roads Authority reserves the right to redact any submission or part thereof that does not comply with this requirement.

All observations or submissions received during the above time period will be taken into consideration before the making of the Westport Local Transport Plan 2023.
