Consulate and develop
Focus on attracting people who can work remotely to live in Ballina by making it an attractive and vibrant place to live, through making it a healthy, green, sustainable, and culturally vibrant town!
Rezoning is necessary
The protection of the existing green infrastructure is paramount and can be easily built on to improve biodiversity and extend green spaces.
Water quality requires protection to sustain the fishing, tourism and leisure activities on the Moy. The single line electricity supply to the town requires addressing and waste management is a major issue.
The importance of tourism in economic terms must be highlighted in the new LAP. Sustainable and green tourism opportunities are plentiful and Ballina and North Mayo are ideal to attract this cohort of tourists.
Key derelict sites require plans and sources of funding to address the decline in the town.
The Town centre requires rejuvenation but costs associated with modern building standards are prohibitive. Too many 3 and 4 bedroomed houses is not useful - a mix of housing types is required.
Ballina's unique built heritage must be protected but a balance of development and protection is required
We would like to be considered for rezoning.
The future is green and towns that embrace the green transition will benefit most from it. The LAP is an opportunity to do this for Ballina.
