I refer to the notification received from Mayo County Council on 25th February, 2021 advising that it is proposed to prepare a Local Area Plan for Castlebar Town & Environs and inviting submissions on issues that need to be addressed. The Northern and Western Regional Assembly wish to thank you for notifying it of your issues paper in respect of the Castlebar and Environs LAP.
The Assembly, in view of its submission on the Draft Mayo County Development Plan where it noted the absence of zoned land in the key town of Castlebar arising from the development plan process, welcomes the commencement of the LAP. The submission referred to above also noted the high level of consistency between the RSES and the Draft County Plan and expects that this will be carried through into the proposed Draft LAP.
The Assembly look forward to commenting on the Draft LAP in due course and will collaborate with Mayo County Council in ensuring a that a high level of consistency with the RSES is achieved.
If the Council have any queries in relation to the above, do not hesitate to revert to the Assembly.
