Construction of a Helicopter landing pad in the townland of Bellavaum at Inishturk, Co. Mayo.

Pursuant to the requirements of Section 179 of the Planning and Development Acts, 2000-2020 and Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001-2020, notice is hereby given that Mayo County Council proposes to carry out a development, particulars of which are set out in the Schedule hereunder.

Bellavaum, Inishturk, Co. Mayo.

 

Construction of a Helicopter landing pad at Bellavaum, Inishturk, Co. Mayo comprising construction of a helicopter landing pad and associated access road.

 

The helipad will have a total diameter of 56.6m and an area of circa 2,515m2. The helipad will be concentrically divided into three sections as follows:

  • A 5.3m wide Safety Area on the western side of the landing pad periphery.
  • A hard standing Final Approach and Take-Off area which will be 23.5m wide and surface dressed with chippings.
  • A Touchdown and Lift-Off area in the centre of the landing pad comprising a circular concrete reinforced pad of 22.5m with associated ground lighting to assist landing and take off.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy at the following offices of Mayo County Council:

  • Westport Civic Offices, Altamont Street, Westport, Co. Mayo.
  • Planning Department, Mayo County Council, Áras an Chontae, Castlebar

Between the hours of 9.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm each day during which said Offices are open for the transaction of business, for a period ending 12th October 2020.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made:

Mayo County Council, as the competent authority, has carried out an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening Report and has determined that a Stage 2 Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of this proposed development.

Mayo County Council has carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Report and has determined that there is no likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and has determined that an Environmental Impact Assessment Report is not required.
